The promise this platform is built on

Your employer pays for Butterflies. Your employer never sees what you do here. Not your name, not your bookings, not your posts, not your check-ins, not whether you have ever logged in. Employers receive only anonymous, aggregated usage numbers, and when a group is small enough that numbers could point to a person, we don’t report them at all.

What we collect

Your account details (name, email, workplace membership), what you choose to share while using Butterflies (bookings, community posts, wellbeing check-ins, questionnaire answers, support conversations), and the technical basics needed to keep your account safe (such as the IP address of registration attempts).

How it’s protected

Sensitive content, your reflections, questionnaire answers, session notes, and support messages, is encrypted in our database. Private wellbeing check-ins are yours alone: no administrator screen exists that can read them.

To be plain about the contrast: Butterflies staff can read community posts, as any member of that community can, and they do so when reviewing content or a report. They also read the feedback you leave about a session, which is the point of it, and your practitioner never sees that. Nobody at Butterflies can read your wellbeing check-ins, because no screen exists that shows them.

Who can see what

A practitioner you book with sees what you choose to share with them, including intake answers. Community posts are visible to members of that community under your chosen display name. Our small support and safety team can see what is needed to run the service safely, never your private check-ins.

Some resources are videos that YouTube hosts and that play inside Butterflies. When one appears on your screen, YouTube receives the request needed to load its player, which includes your IP address, the same as if you opened the video on YouTube. We use its no-cookie mode, and nothing about who you are or what else you do on Butterflies is sent with it.

Your rights

You can download a copy of your own data, and you can ask for your account to be deleted. Deletion removes what is purely yours, anonymises what a conversation depends on, and keeps only the records we are legally required to hold. Both are available from your profile settings.

What we never do

We never sell your data. We never send identifiable usage information to your employer. We never put your personal data into third-party analytics.
